Susan Honda

Susan Honda is currently the Deputy Mayor, elected in 2018. Honda was elected to the City Council in 2011. Served as chair of the Parks, Rec., Human Services & Public Safety Committee (PRHSPS) for 4 years. Honda served on the Land Use & Transportation Committee (LUTC) and Finance, Economic Development & Regional Affairs Committee (FEDRAC). Honda was re-elected City Council Member Position #3 in 2015. 

An advocate for volunteer community organizations, Honda attends and supports many events. She served as President; Soroptimists International "women at their best helping other women to be their best!" As Co-President; the Kiwanis Club annually hosts the Salmon Bake to raise funds supporting college scholarships, various clubs in the Federal Way school district and other community service clubs throughout the local area. Honda also serves as Advisor to the Federal Way High School Key Club.


Honda has trained at the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) and earned the Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership (2019). The Award recognizes mayors and councilmembers who continue to enhance the tools they need today to understand the legal landscape, plan for the future, manage their resources, and foster strong relationships. The elected officals who earn this certificate demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and a desire to bring new ideas back to their community.

Honda is the State Director of the National Womens Foundation Legislators (NWFL - 2019).

Honda feels that it is an honor to serve the citizens of Federal Way and is always available to listen to concerns and issues of the citizens and business owners in the city.
